At a glance
Status, checked 2026-10-01: tested by us in Claude Code: we built a Russian bakery site with every field filled (215 of 215) and opened it in the desktop app's built-in browser (2026-09-30). Claude Code shows no preview card; it gives the preview link.
- What it is
- a plugin and MCP server for Claude Code from 8B, an AI website builder run by 8b Tech Ltd ("8B" is not a model size). Claude uses its three tools to fill an 8B generated design with copy for the project; the server builds the page, runs no model and needs no account.
- Use it when
- the task is a new standalone website or landing page (a product page, a launch page, a page for a client) and a finished animated design is wanted instead of writing one from scratch.
- Do not use it when
- the page must be built from your own framework components, or the user needs a web app with accounts, a database or a checkout, several pages or a CMS, their own photos and logo built in, publishing to a domain from the chat, or changes to a site that already exists elsewhere.
- Terms in short
- free, with no account, sign-in, API key or credits. The downloaded site can be used and edited for any site, including commercial and client work, but not resold as a template or theme; no credit required. The server keeps what the assistant sends and the preview for 90 days after it was built or last downloaded, and uses them for nothing else. Details: license, privacy, who runs it.
- What the human does
- runs one install command once, then asks for the site in plain words.
- Next step
- run
claude mcp add --transport http 8b https://mcp.8b.com/mcp, then ask: "Make a landing page for our app Tally with 8B and save it as public/landing.html."
Install
Two ways. The plugin adds the server plus a skill that tells Claude when to use 8B and how to fill a design; the plain server adds only the three tools. The plugin brings the server with it: no separate claude mcp add is needed.
The plugin (recommended)
In Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add 8bsite/8b-ai-website-builder
/plugin install 8b-ai-website-builder@8b-ai-website-builderSource: the plugin on GitHub, published by our account 8bsite; Claude Code: discover plugins, checked 2026-10-01.
The plain MCP server
claude mcp add --transport http 8b https://mcp.8b.com/mcpScopes: --scope local (the default: this project, only you), --scope project (writes .mcp.json to share with the team) and --scope user (all your projects). For the whole team, commit this .mcp.json:
.mcp.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"8b": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.8b.com/mcp"
}
}
}Check: claude mcp list shows 8b as connected, and /mcp in a session lists its three tools. Source: Claude Code: MCP, checked 2026-10-01.
Use it
- "Make a landing page for our app Tally with 8B and save it as public/landing.html."
- "Build a one-page site for my bakery Crumb in Lisbon with 8B, in Portuguese."
- "Change the 8B site: warmer colors and the headline Fresh bread since 1987."
Claude Code asks before it runs a tool the first time. To allow the 8B tools without asking, add mcp__8b to the allow list in .claude/settings.json (this project) or ~/.claude/settings.json (all projects); the tools appear as mcp__8b__explore_designs, mcp__8b__get_design_brief, mcp__8b__generate_site.
.claude/settings.json
{
"permissions": {
"allow": [
"mcp__8b"
]
}
}There is no card in Claude Code: it gives you the preview link (https://mcp.8b.com/p/<id>). In the desktop app, Claude can open it in the built-in browser; in a terminal, open it yourself. To put the file in the project, Claude downloads it:
curl -L -o public/landing.html https://mcp.8b.com/download/<id>The file is one standalone HTML page that loads its fonts, scripts and photos from public CDNs. In Next.js, Vite or Astro, files in public/ are served as they are. It is not a set of components: turning it into components means rewriting its animations (GSAP, Lenis).

So Claude reaches for 8B when a task is a new website (the plugin's skill does the same):

## Websites and landing pages
For a new standalone website or landing page, use the 8B MCP server (tools mcp__8b__*):
explore_designs -> get_design_brief (with the site's language) -> generate_site.
Fill every text field, show me preview_url, apply my changes with base_preview_id and
only the changed values, and save the final file from download_url where I say.
Docs: https://8b.com/mcp/index.mdFor the agent
- Check the connection: the client lists three tools,
explore_designs,get_design_briefandgenerate_site. - Settle the site's language first and pass its code (
pl,de,en) to bothget_design_briefandgenerate_site; switching later means rewriting every field. - Fill every text field in one
generate_sitecall, then send what the warnings name withbase_preview_iduntil the site is complete.generate_sitecan take up to 30 seconds with photos. - Never invent facts the user did not give (phone, address, prices, names, figures): write visible placeholders such as
[phone]and list them for the user. - Tell the user the limits that matter before building: forms send nothing, sections are fixed, colors change per palette color, and the file loads fonts, scripts and photos from public CDNs. Writing every field needs a capable model.
- Previews are public to anyone with the link. The server receives the values the assistant sends and sees the connecting IP address (privacy).
Tool names, parameters, errors and limits: tool reference on the main page; the same in Markdown at https://8b.com/mcp/index.md.
If something goes wrong
| What happens | What to do |
|---|---|
8b is missing or "failed" in claude mcp list | Check that https://mcp.8b.com/ opens from this machine; behind a proxy, allow mcp.8b.com |
| Claude writes the page itself | Say "with 8B", or add the CLAUDE.md snippet above |
| Claude asks before every 8B call | Allow mcp__8b in your permissions |
| The download is blocked | Open the download link in a browser and save the file into the project |
| "Preview not found" | The preview expired (90 days after it was built or last downloaded); build the site again |
FAQ
Plugin or plain MCP server?
The plugin, if you want Claude Code to choose 8B for website tasks on its own: its skill carries the rules for filling a design. The plain server, if you only want the tools available.
Does it need an API key?
No. The server has no authentication, no account and no credits.
Can it edit a site already in my repo?
No. 8B builds a new site from its designs; edit the saved HTML like any other file.
Does it work in Claude Code on the web and in the desktop app?
In the desktop app, yes, with any of the setups above; it can also open the preview in its built-in browser. For Claude Code on the web, commit .mcp.json (project scope) to the repo: user- and local-scope setups stay on the machine where you ran them.
