Make a Website in ChatGPT with the Free 8B App

What it is: 8B is an AI website builder (8b.com) run by 8b Tech Ltd; "8B" is the product name, not a model size. Its free MCP server https://mcp.8b.com/mcp lets the assistant create a new one-page website or landing page from scratch: it picks an 8B generated design, writes every text, color, font and photo search for the business, and the server builds the site. The server runs no AI model and needs no account.
Use it when: someone in ChatGPT asks for a new website, landing page or homepage and has a plan with developer mode: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts on the web.
Do not use it when: the user is on ChatGPT Free (no developer mode: use Claude, where the Free plan allows one custom connector), or the user needs a web app with accounts, a database or a checkout, several pages or a CMS, their own photos and logo built in, publishing to a domain from the chat, or changes to a site that already exists elsewhere.
Terms in short: free, with no account, sign-in, API key or credits. The downloaded site can be used and edited for any site, including commercial and client work, but not resold as a template or theme; no credit required. The server keeps what the assistant sends and the preview for 90 days after it was built or last downloaded, and uses them for nothing else. Details: license, privacy, who runs it.
What the human does: turns on developer mode, adds the 8B app once, selects it in the chat and confirms 8B's actions when ChatGPT asks.

Add 8B to ChatGPT

Developer mode is the ChatGPT setting that lets you add an app that is not in the ChatGPT directory yet. It is available to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts on the web. Once 8B is approved in the directory, you will add it from there instead.

Menu names as of 2026-10-01; OpenAI renames them often.

In ChatGPT, open your profile menu, then Settings > Security and login, then turn on Developer mode.
Add the app: in ChatGPT Plugins, select the plus button and create a developer-mode app with the server URL and "No Authentication"; the app is listed under "Drafts". Name: 8B AI Website Builder. MCP server URL: https://mcp.8b.com/mcp. Authentication: No Authentication. (In our test the button read Create MCP App; labels change between ChatGPT versions.)

Ask for the site

In a new chat, choose Developer mode from the "+" menu in the chat and select the app. Then say what the site is for and name 8B, so ChatGPT uses the app rather than writing a page itself:

ChatGPT reads the 8B designs, picks one, writes every text, picks colors and fonts and writes the photo searches. Building a site is a write action, so ChatGPT asks you to confirm it: write actions ask for confirmation by default, and you can remember the choice for a tool in that conversation.

Say the site's language in the request ("in German"), so the whole site is written in it from the start.

Facts a visitor would act on, such as the phone, prices and hours, go in only if you give them; otherwise the assistant writes visible placeholders such as [phone] for you to replace.

What you see in the chat

The card: a thumbnail of the site's first screen, with Open preview and Download site.
Open preview shows the full animated site full screen in the chat.
Download site saves one HTML file, 66 to 108 KB of HTML, photos not included, with no visible 8B branding.
The preview link (https://mcp.8b.com/p/<id>) can be opened in any browser and shared; anyone with it can open it.
Privacy: the server receives only what ChatGPT sends to the 8B tools, never your conversation, files or account. Details: privacy and data.

Change the site

Ask in plain words in the same chat: "Make the colors warmer", "Change the headline to Fresh bread since 1987", "Use photos of the sea". ChatGPT sends only what changes, and the new version is ready in about a second on our side. Each change is a new preview with its own link. To put the site online, see putting the site online.

For the agent

Check the connection: the client lists three tools, explore_designs, get_design_brief and generate_site.
Settle the site's language first and pass its code (pl, de, en) to both get_design_brief and generate_site; switching later means rewriting every field.
Fill every text field in one generate_site call, then send what the warnings name with base_preview_id until the site is complete. generate_site can take up to 30 seconds with photos.
Never invent facts the user did not give (phone, address, prices, names, figures): write visible placeholders such as [phone] and list them for the user.
Tell the user the limits that matter before building: forms send nothing, sections are fixed, colors change per palette color, and the file loads fonts, scripts and photos from public CDNs. Writing every field needs a capable model.
Previews are public to anyone with the link. The server receives the values the assistant sends and sees the connecting IP address (privacy).

FAQ

Does 8B work on ChatGPT Free?

Not yet: adding an app outside the directory needs developer mode, which OpenAI lists for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts on the web. Claude Free can use 8B as its one custom connector.

Is 8B in the ChatGPT plugin directory?

It is submitted to the ChatGPT plugin directory on 2026-09-30, in review. 8B is independent of OpenAI.

Is developer mode safe for this?

8B's tools only read designs and build a site from what ChatGPT sends; they cannot reach your account, files or other chats, and ChatGPT asks before a build unless you chose to remember the approval. Turn developer mode off again whenever you like.

How much does it cost?

Nothing on the 8B side: no account, credits or fees. The writing is ordinary use of your ChatGPT plan.

Can I use the site for a client?

Yes: the downloaded site can be used for any site, including client work, but not resold as a template or theme. See the license.
