Come alone. Leave with a crew.

Every class starts in a circle, and partners change with every song. By the cool-down you have danced with the whole room, and nobody stands at the side watching.

Six styles, one floor

Pick the music you already move to in the kitchen. Every style has a beginners' class each week, and you can switch whenever you like.

  1. Hip-hop

Grooves, bounces and short routines to new and old-school tracks. Loud, sweaty and very forgiving.

    Beginners Mon 18:30 · Improvers Wed 19:45

  2. Salsa

Cuban-style salsa in a rotating circle, so you dance with everyone. Basic step by minute ten, first turn by minute twenty.

    Beginners Mon 19:45 · Improvers Thu 19:45

  3. Contemporary

Floor work, swings and slow phrases. The calmest hour of the week, and the hardest on your thighs.

Open level Tue 18:30 · Beginners Sat 11:00

  4. Heels

Walks, poses and a full routine in heels or trainers, your choice. Confidence is the actual subject.

    Beginners Wed 18:30 · Improvers Sat 12:30

  5. Swing

Lindy hop to big-band records. Bouncy, social and impossible to do with a straight face.

Beginners Thu 18:30 · Open level Sun 11:00

  6. Bachata

Close, slow and musical. We teach both leading and following to everyone, whichever role you pick on the night.

    Beginners Tue 19:45 · Improvers Sun 12:30

Your first class, step by step

Book your free first class
  1. 1

    Walk in on your own

Most people do. Say hi at the desk, leave your coat in a locker and keep your trainers on.

  2. 2

    Warm up in the circle

Ten easy minutes to the night's playlist. Everybody is busy with their own feet, so nobody is looking at yours.

  3. 3

    Learn eight counts

The teacher breaks one short routine into eight beats and repeats it until it sticks, then puts the music back on.

  4. 4

    Dance it, swap, again

Once with the lights up, once with them down, a new partner each time. Then tea, and usually a plan for next week.

Asked before the first class

I have never danced. Is that a problem?

That is exactly who the beginners' classes are for. About half of every class started with us in the last six months.

Do I need a partner?

No. In salsa, bachata and swing partners rotate every song, and the other styles are danced solo in a group.

What should I wear?

Clothes you can move in and clean trainers or socks. For heels, bring a pair with a strap or borrow one of ours.

How do I book?

Use the form below for your free class. After that, book any class ahead or pay at the desk if there is space.

Is there an age limit?

Classes are for adults over 18. Our oldest regular started swing at seventy-four.

Is the studio accessible?

Both rooms are on the ground floor with step-free access, and there is an accessible toilet next to the changing rooms.

See you on the floor

Tell us which style and which night, and we will save you a place in your first class. It is free, and you only need trainers.
