Two buckets. Zero swirls.

One bucket holds the shampoo, the other clean water over a grit guard. The mitt goes back into the rinse after every panel, so grit from your sills never gets dragged across your bonnet. No brushes, no tunnel, no rush: about forty minutes a car.

How a wash goes

Same order every time, whatever the car. It is slower than a machine, and that is the point.

The front of a car dripping with snow foam in the bay
A gloved hand scrubbing a wheel with a soft brush
A wash mitt full of suds moving across dark paint
A white car being rinsed with a hose
A gloved hand drying a panel with a green towel
  1. Pre-rinse and snow foam

We rinse loose grit off from the roof down, then cover the car in thick snow foam and let it dwell for five minutes to lift the dirt before anything touches the paint.

    10 minutes
  2. Wheels and arches first

Wheels get their own bucket, brushes and mitts, so brake dust never meets your paintwork. Arches are flushed out and tyres scrubbed.

    8 minutes
  3. Two-bucket contact wash

A lambswool mitt, one panel at a time, roof to sills. After every panel the mitt is rinsed in clean water before it goes back into the shampoo.

    12 minutes
  4. Rinse, top down

A low-pressure flood rinse sheets the water off glass and panels and carries the last of the suds out of shuts, badges and mirrors.

    4 minutes
  5. Dried by hand

Twisted-loop towels for the panels and warm air for grilles, badges and mirrors, so nothing drips or spots on the way home.

    Dash and trims

Brushed into every seam, vents steamed, plastics left matt rather than greasy.

  • A valeter cleaning a front seat from the open door

    Front seats

Fabric shampooed and extracted; leather cleaned, then fed so it doesn't crack.

  • A gloved hand with a spray bottle beside a door card

    Glass and door cards

Streak-free inside glass, door pockets emptied, handles and switches wiped.

  • A clean rear bench seat seen through the open door

    Rear bench and child seats

Crumbs out of every crease; child seats taken out, cleaned and refitted.

  • Steam rising inside a car with orange seats

    Steam and odour

Steam through the vents and footwells, then a treatment that removes smells rather than covering them.

Gloss that lasts the winter

Salted roads and bird lime eat through a plain wash in weeks. Each coat below builds on the one before it; most cars need two.

  1. Decontamination

    from £60

Iron fallout remover and a clay bar lift what washing leaves bonded to the paint.

  2. Machine polish

    from £180

A dual-action polish takes out light swirls and haze and brings the colour back.

  3. Sealant

    from £45

A polymer layer that beads water and keeps the shine for six months.

  4. Ceramic coat

    from £420

A hard, glassy coating cured overnight that shrugs off salt for up to five years.

Before you come

Rather ask a person? Call the bay on 0114 000 0000.

Do I need to book?

Washes take walk-ins until 4pm when a bay is free, but booked cars go first. Valets and protection are by booking only.

Can I wait while you wash?

Yes. There's a warm room with coffee and Wi-Fi. For anything longer than a mini valet we'll text you when the car is ready.

Do you pressure-wash the paint?

Only for the pre-rinse, at low pressure and a safe distance. Anything that touches the paint is a mitt or a towel.

Can you do vans and campers?

Anything up to 2.9 metres tall fits the covered bay. Taller than that, call us and we'll wash it in the yard.

What if it rains on the way home?

Rain beads off a clean, sealed car. If something we missed shows up in daylight, bring it back within 48 hours and we'll redo it free.
