Every lesson is a conversation in sound

Fifty minutes, one mentor, your instrument. Low-latency audio lets you play together, not take turns.

  1. 1

    Hear it

Your mentor plays the passage live, slowly first, then at tempo.

  2. 2

    Play it back

You answer on your instrument and get feedback while the sound is still in the air.

  3. 3

    Make it yours

Each lesson ends with a recording you keep and a plan for the next seven days.

From the first lesson to the first stage

Most students play their first short set within two terms. This is the way there, one step a season.

  1. Step 1

    Free trial lesson

Thirty minutes to meet a mentor, play a little and pick one goal.

  2. Step 2

    Weekly lessons

One live lesson a week and a practice plan for the days in between.

  3. Step 3

    Masterclass and ensemble

Once a month, play with other students in a small online group.

  4. Step 4

    Stage night

The term ends with a concert, online or at one of our partner venues.

Stage nights

Every term, students play a short set for family, friends and the rest of the school, with a sound engineer, real lights and a mentor backstage.

Reviews
“I had played the same four chords for ten years. Six months with Daniel and I wrote my first song, then played it to a room full of strangers.”
Mara Lindqvist, guitar student since spring
  • My son used to hide from piano practice. Now he books the lesson himself and plays Arjun his own tunes.

    Priya, parentPiano
  • I was sure online drum lessons could not work. Ama hears every ghost note through a laptop microphone.

    Tom, 41Drums
  • The stage night was terrifying for four minutes and then the best evening of my year.

Questions before the first lesson

Something else on your mind? Write to us and a mentor answers, usually the same day.

Ask a mentor

What do I need for an online lesson?

Your instrument, a laptop or tablet with a camera, and headphones. We send a five-minute setup guide that makes the sound clear enough for both of you to play together.

How young can a student start?

Piano from six, guitar and drums from eight, voice from ten. Younger children are welcome in a trial lesson with a parent beside them.

Can I switch mentors?

Yes, at any time and without a reason. Your notes and recordings move to the new mentor so nothing starts again from zero.

How does the free lesson work?

You pick a time, we match you with a mentor, and you spend thirty minutes playing and talking about goals. No card is needed to book it.

Can I pause my plan?

Pause for up to two months a year from your account. Lessons you have already paid for wait for you.
