Hands resting on torn denim, every nail in glossy orange gel

Layers, not coats

A coat of polish sits on top of the nail. A layer of gel becomes part of it: brushed thin, cured for sixty seconds, then the next. Six to nine of them make a set that stays glassy for three weeks and comes off without taking the nail with it.

Six finishes, one gloss

Every set starts on the same clear base. What changes is what we lay inside the glass, and how many layers it takes.

  1. Long almond nails in deep glossy red against a black ground

    Glass

Sheer, high-shine colour in three passes, so the light goes through it and back.

    From £42

  2. A hand with silver chrome almond nails in front of orange marigolds

    Chrome

Pigment powder buffed into the last layer: liquid metal, sealed completely flat.

    From £52

  3. Two hands in white sleeves with milky white nails and small painted hearts

    Milk

Soft white suspended in clear gel, with hand-painted details floating on top.

    From £48

  4. A relaxed hand with short nude nails resting on white fur

    Bare

Builder gel tinted to your own nail: strength and shape without looking done.

    From £45

  5. Hands with nails in navy, gold and white, each one different

    Duo

Two colours on each hand, set side by side or one laid inside the other.

    From £50

  6. Long sculpted pointed nails with red ombre and fine silver lines

    Sculpt

Length built in gel on a form, filed by hand, then painted layer by layer.

    From £68

Built in four layers

A set takes fifty to eighty minutes. Most of it is waiting for the lamp, and we never rush the lamp.

  1. Layer 1

    Prep

Cuticles pushed back, never cut. The surface buffed just enough for gel to hold.

  2. Layer 2

    Base

A thin structured base levels each nail and carries its shape.

  3. Layer 3

    Colour

Two or three sheer passes, each cured for sixty seconds before the next.

  4. Layer 4

    Seal

A clear top layer cured twice and buffed to a glass edge. Nothing sticky left.

The room on Example Street

Six tables along one long window, a low sofa for waiting and nothing louder than a murmur. Weekday mornings from ten to eleven are talk-free.

  1. The sofa

Wait here with tea, or bring a friend along: the second chair at every table is for them.

  2. The side table

Pot tea, oat milk and a dish of clementines. Your hands stay free while the lamp does its work.

  3. The long window

Daylight from nine until four, so the colour you choose is the colour you will see outside.

Four people, six tables

Each artist keeps her own lamp and her own regulars. Book one by name, or tell us the finish and we will match you.

Your file is yours

Your first visit ends with a glass file etched with your initials. It waits in a drawer here between visits, or goes home with you. Never shared, never thrown away.

  1. 1

    Oil at night

A drop of cuticle oil before bed keeps the edges sealed and stops them lifting.

  2. 2

    File one way

Short strokes in one direction with your own glass file. Sawing back and forth splits the edge.

  3. 3

    Gloves at the sink

Hot water and washing-up liquid soften gel faster than anything else you will do all week.

  4. 4

    Back at three weeks

Refill before the gap at the cuticle reaches a millimetre and a half, and the set stays level.

Before you come

Anything else, ask at the desk or write to us. We answer the same day.

How long does a set last?

Three weeks on most nails, up to four for a bare builder set. Refill before the growth gap reaches a millimetre and a half.

Will gel damage my nails?

Careless removal does, not the gel. We soak and lift, never drill into your own nail, and Ines runs bare sets for nails that need a rest.

Can I bring my own design?

Yes. Add a photo to your booking note so we can set aside time for the painting and pick the right artist.

What if a nail chips?

Come back within seven days and we repair it free, no questions asked.

Do you take walk-ins?

When a table is free. Ring ahead and we will tell you honestly how long the wait is.
