What's on the floor

Four rooms under two arches. Walk in, take a cup of coins from the bar and play anything that's lit.

  1. A row of upright arcade cabinets glowing red and blue in a dark room

Thirty uprights from 1979 to 1999: shooters, racers, fighters and one stubborn maze.

    The uprights
  2. Close-up of a lit pinball playfield with bumpers and ramps

Twelve tables on the pinball row, levelled every Monday, rubbers changed every month.

  3. A bar counter lit from below, shelves of bottles glowing behind it

Fourteen metres of bar with a ledge for your drink beside every machine.

    The long bar
  4. Players side by side at racing cabinets in a dim neon arcade

Thursdays from eight: five machines, three tries each and a board that remembers.

Behind the bar

We're Ailsa and Dev. We fixed our first cabinet on a kitchen table in Partick.

Quarter Moon opened in 2019 under two railway arches with eleven machines bought from a seaside arcade that was closing for good.

Now the floor holds forty-two, the long bar pours till two and the back room rebuilds whatever the league breaks. Same rule as night one: if it's lit, it plays.

Every Thursday from eight: five machines, three tries each, one board. The top six stay up until somebody beats them, and the season's champion drinks free for a month.
