Who’s up at 4 am?

Four bakers, one oven the size of a small car and a radio nobody is allowed to touch. This is how every morning goes before you get here.

  1. Hands working a piece of dough on a floured bench

    Ovens on, starter fed

The first person in lights the deck oven and feeds Gerald, our twelve-year-old sourdough starter.

  2. A baker dusting flour over shaped loaves

    Loaves shaped, buns rolled

Overnight dough is divided, shaped and scored. Every pre-ordered box gets its six set aside first.

  3. Racks full of golden croissants

    Croissants out

Racks roll out of the oven, the glaze goes on, and the boxes get their names on the lid.

  4. A counter covered in cinnamon rolls and pastries

    Doors open

The counter is full, the coffee is on and the first regular is already waiting outside.

Fair questions

Asked at the counter at least once a day.

When do I need to pre-order a box?

By 8 pm the night before. Orders after that go into the next morning’s bake, and we’ll tell you which day.

Can I mix the six?

Any six from this month’s list, up to two of the same bake. Breads count as one item each.

Do you deliver?

Within three miles of the shop, between 7 and 10 am, free on boxes, cakes and platters.

What about allergies?

Every month has a vegan bake and a gluten-free one. We bake with nuts and wheat every day, so we can’t promise a free-from kitchen.

Still wondering? Ask the bakers

Give someone a better morning

Gift a box of six or a cake. They choose the day and the bakes; you take the credit. The card arrives by email the minute you order, or in a printed sleeve from the counter.
