Every class opens with the Hundred.
A hundred beats of the arms, in for five and out for five. By the last count your ribs, belly and back know where the work is, and the next fifty minutes go exactly there.
First class £15 · One-to-one intro £45
Four ways onto the apparatus
Most people start on the Reformer and add the others as their body asks for them. Every class is booked by the place, and every place comes with a teacher's eyes on you.
-
Reformer
A sliding carriage on springs, with straps for hands and feet. The springs resist both ways, so every movement is worked on the way out and again on the way back.
-
Tower
A frame of springs and bars fixed to the wall. Slower, heavier work for hips and shoulders, and the class we send stiff backs to first.
-
Mat
No machine, just your own weight and a mat. The original repertoire, taught slowly, and the one you can take home with you.
-
Ring
A flexible ring held between the hands or the knees. Short, focused classes for inner thighs, chest and arms, good after a long day at a desk.
Six rules we teach by
Breath leads every movement, never the other way round. Centre is where it starts: the band from ribs to hips that holds you up. Control beats speed, so nothing swings and nothing is thrown. Precision beats repetition: five careful reps over twenty loose ones. Concentration keeps your mind on the muscle doing the work. Flow joins it all, so the class moves like one long exercise.
Fifty minutes, in order
Every class follows the same arc, so your body learns its shape and your attention can stay on the work instead of on what comes next.
-
Minutes 0 to 5
The Hundred
Arm beats on the breath, in for five and out for five, to warm the trunk and find the centre before anything moves.
-
Minutes 5 to 12
Feet and legs
Feet on the bar, then in the straps: legs warmed and lined up before they carry any load.
-
Minutes 12 to 22
Arms in straps
Kneeling and seated work that opens the chest and gives the shoulders a job they rarely get.
-
Minutes 22 to 32
Centre
Planks, curls and the long stretch: the heaviest ten minutes, taken slowly and counted out loud.
-
Minutes 32 to 42
Length
Side work and long reaches that lengthen everything the centre block just shortened.
-
Minutes 42 to 50
Release
The spine rolled down one bone at a time, breath back to normal, nothing rushed on the way out of the door.
Teachers who watch
Four teachers, each trained for 450 hours on every piece of apparatus. They teach small rooms on purpose: correcting you is the job.

Who walks in on a Monday
There is no Pilates body. There are runners, new mothers, people who sit all day and people who would like to keep getting up off the floor.
-
Runners
Hips that open, ankles that stop rolling and a stride that lasts past the tenth mile.
-
Pregnancy and after
Breath, pelvic floor and a safe way back to strength, with a teacher trained for both.
-
Desk backs
Eight hours in a chair undone on a carriage: a spine that moves again and shoulders that drop.
-
Sixty and over
Balance, bone strength and getting up off the floor without having to think about it.
