The Water
Park—

Cannonball®

Seen from underwater, a swimmer in red shorts hits the pool in a cannonball, wrapped in white bubbles

Scream on the way down, float all the way home.

The big four

Twenty-two slides in the park. These four are the ones with a queue, and the queue is worth it.

  1. Looking up a red open slide from the splash pool to the platform under a cloudy sky

    The Kraken

    Thrill Tower

    Trapdoor drop · 18 metres · from 1.3 m tall

Stand on the trapdoor, hear the countdown, lose the floor. Two seconds of nothing, then the longest scream in Leeds.

  2. Clear blue and orange spiral tubes wound around a white tower against a blue sky

    Corkscrew

    Thrill Tower

    Twin spiral tubes · 140 metres · from 1.2 m tall

Two clear tubes wound round each other. Race a friend, watch them through the wall, lose by a splash.

  3. From above, rings of swimmers drifting down a turquoise lazy river between palms

    The Long Way Round

    The Lagoon

Lazy river · 400 metres · all ages

Grab a ring and let the current do the rest: under the bridge, past the palms and round again.

  4. A young surfer in a yellow helmet carving inside a curling wave

    Big Swell

    The Lagoon

Wave pool · waves up to 1.8 m · board sessions

Every ten minutes the horn goes and the deep end stands up. Board sessions on weekday evenings.

Before you jump

The questions the front desk hears most, answered once and properly.

How tall do I need to be for the big slides?

The Kraken and Corkscrew need 1.3 metres, most other tower slides 1.2. There is a measuring post at the bottom of every staircase, and staff at the top check again.

Can we bring our own food?

Yes. Picnics are welcome on the terrace and in the family area; please leave glass at home. The café does hot food and coffee from 10:00.

Do children need an adult in the water?

Under-eights need one adult in the water for every two children. Under-twelves can swim on their own as long as an adult is in the building.

Can I pause my season band?

Yes. Injury, illness, exams or a new baby: email the desk and we freeze it for up to eight weeks a season.

How warm is the water?

The lagoon and the slide pools sit at 30 °C, the hot pool at 34 °C. The roof opens on warm days and closes when it rains.

Is the park step-free?

From the car park to the poolside, yes, with a pool hoist, a changing places room and free entry for carers.

Forty lifeguards. Eyes on every lane.

There is a guard at the bottom of every slide and two on the wave pool at all times. The water is tested every hour, and the numbers go up on the board by the gate.

  • A weathered man in a wetsuit laughing on the beach, hair blown back

    Dougie Reid

    Head lifeguard

Twenty-two summers on the stand. Spots a tired swimmer from across the wave pool.

  • A smiling woman in a red cap by the water

    Hana Kovač

    Slide marshal

Runs the top of the tower: one rider at a time, no exceptions, plenty of jokes.

  • A bearded swimmer in a pink cap and goggles leaning on the pool edge, smiling

    Tomás Ferreira

    Swim school lead

Has taught three thousand children to float, and a few of their parents.

  • A woman resting her arms on the edge of a bright blue pool

    Jill Hartley

    Water quality

Tests every pool on the hour and writes the numbers on the board by the gate.
