# Build landing pages in Cursor with 8B.

> Add the free 8B MCP server, `https://mcp.8b.com/mcp`, to Cursor with one click, then ask the agent for a landing page: it picks an 8B generated design, writes every text, builds the site on our server in seconds, shows the preview and can save one HTML file into your project. No account, sign-in or credits.

**Status, checked 2026-10-01:** the install link and config follow Cursor's documentation, read on 2026-10-01; we have not tested 8B in Cursor ourselves yet. The [MCP Apps client matrix](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/extensions/client-matrix) lists Cursor as showing the preview card; we have not seen it there ourselves.

## At a glance

- **What it is:** a remote MCP server from 8B, an AI website builder run by 8b Tech Ltd ("8B" is not a model size). Cursor's agent calls its three tools to fill one of the 8B generated designs with copy for your product; our server builds the page and returns links. It runs no model of its own and needs no account.
- **Use it when:** you are about to hand-write a marketing or launch page in Cursor and would rather start from a finished, animated layout with copy written for the product.
- **Do not use it when:** the page has to be JSX in your design system, read data from your app, or the user needs a web app with accounts, a database or a checkout, several pages or a CMS, their own photos and logo built in, publishing to a domain from the chat, or changes to a site that already exists elsewhere.
- **Terms in short:** free, with no account, sign-in, API key or credits. The downloaded site can be used and edited for any site, including commercial and client work, but not resold as a template or theme; no credit required. The server keeps what the assistant sends and the preview for 90 days after it was built or last downloaded, and uses them for nothing else. Details: [license](https://8b.com/mcp/#license), [privacy](https://8b.com/mcp/#privacy), [who runs it](https://8b.com/mcp/#about).
- **What the human does:** clicks Add to Cursor (Cursor asks to confirm) or adds three lines to `mcp.json`, then asks the agent for the page.
- **Next step:** click [Add to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=8b&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL21jcC44Yi5jb20vbWNwIn0=), then ask the agent: "Make a landing page for our app Tally with 8B and save it as public/landing.html."

## Install

- [Add to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=8b&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL21jcC44Yi5jb20vbWNwIn0=)

The button opens Cursor and asks you to confirm the server. It installs this config, which you can also add by hand to `.cursor/mcp.json` in the project, or `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project:

mcp.json:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "8b": {
      "url": "https://mcp.8b.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Check: Cursor's MCP settings list `8b` with three tools: `explore_designs`, `get_design_brief` and `generate_site`. Sources: [Cursor: MCP install links](https://cursor.com/docs/mcp/install-links), checked 2026-10-01; [Cursor: MCP](https://cursor.com/docs/context/mcp), checked 2026-10-01.

## Use it

Ask in the agent chat and name 8B:

- "Make a landing page for our app Tally with 8B and save it as public/landing.html."
- "Use 8B to build a one-page site for my client, a dental clinic in Warsaw, in Polish."
- "Change the 8B page: darker colors and the headline Budget in five minutes."

Cursor may ask before running each tool; approve it. The chat should show the preview card with **Open preview** (not checked by us); the agent also gives the preview link. To put the file in the project, the agent downloads it:

```bash
curl -L -o public/landing.html https://mcp.8b.com/download/<id>
```

What lands in the repo is plain HTML with its own CSS and CDN scripts, so Cursor can route to it (a `/launch` page, a `public/` file in Next.js or Vite) but not import it as React. If you later port it to Tailwind components, plan to redo the scroll animations by hand.

## A rules snippet

A project rule makes Cursor's agent pick 8B for page requests without being told every time:

.cursor/rules/8b.mdc:

```markdown
---
description: Use the 8B MCP server for new landing pages and websites
alwaysApply: false
---
For a new standalone website or landing page, use the 8B MCP server (8b):
explore_designs -> get_design_brief (with the site's language) -> generate_site.
Fill every text field, show me preview_url, apply changes with base_preview_id and only
the changed values, and save the file from download_url where I say.
Docs: https://8b.com/mcp/index.md
```

## For the agent

- Check the connection: the client lists three tools, `explore_designs`, `get_design_brief` and `generate_site`.
- Settle the site's language first and pass its code (`pl`, `de`, `en`) to both `get_design_brief` and `generate_site`; switching later means rewriting every field.
- Fill every text field in one `generate_site` call, then send what the warnings name with `base_preview_id` until the site is [complete](https://8b.com/mcp/#new-site). `generate_site` can take up to 30 seconds with photos.
- Never invent facts the user did not give (phone, address, prices, names, figures): write visible placeholders such as `[phone]` and list them for the user.
- Tell the user the limits that matter before building: forms send nothing, sections are fixed, colors change per palette color, and the file loads fonts, scripts and photos from public CDNs. Writing every field needs a capable model.
- Previews are public to anyone with the link. The server receives the values the assistant sends and sees the connecting IP address ([privacy](https://8b.com/mcp/#privacy)).

Tool names, parameters, errors and limits: [tool reference](https://8b.com/mcp/#tools) on the main page; the same in Markdown at `https://8b.com/mcp/index.md`.

## If something goes wrong

| What happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| The button does nothing | Open Cursor first, or add the `mcp.json` above by hand |
| `8b` shows an error in the MCP settings | Check that `https://mcp.8b.com/` opens from this machine; behind a proxy, allow `mcp.8b.com` |
| The agent writes the page itself | Say "with 8B", or add the rule above |
| No card in the chat | Open the preview link the agent gives |
| The link shows "Preview not found" | Previews last 90 days after it was built or last downloaded; ask the agent for a fresh build |

## FAQ

### Does 8B work on Cursor's free plan?

Cursor's documentation does not limit MCP servers by plan, and 8B itself is free with no account.

### Is it the same as asking the agent to write the page?

No. The agent writes the content, but the layout, animation and type come from a finished 8B generated design, so the result does not depend on how well the design was prompted.

### Can I edit the saved file?

Yes, like any HTML file. It cannot be loaded back into 8B; for edits through 8B, use the preview while it exists.
