Ochre began in a borrowed print shop with one belief: design is a public art. Each June an old warehouse on the river becomes a lecture hall, a studio and a street gallery — open to anyone who makes things look right.

Six ways to spend four days
Mix them as you like. Every pass opens the talks and the print fair; workshops and reviews are booked ahead.

Talks
Forty-minute stories from the studios that shaped the year: how the work was made, what went wrong, what they would do again.

Workshops
Twelve people, one long table. Type design, risograph, identity sprints and photo editing with the people who teach it best.

Open studios
Twenty local studios open their doors. Walk in, see the pin-up walls, ask the questions you would never ask on a call.

Print fair
Posters, zines and books from eighty independent makers. Bring a tube, some cash and an empty shelf at home.

Night screenings
Films about designers and films designers love, projected on the warehouse wall after dark.

Portfolio reviews
Twenty minutes with an art director who has hired before. Bring your work, leave with a plan.

Armazém Nove stored cork for a hundred years. Now its brick, steel and river light hold every talk, workshop and print table — and the terrace stays open until midnight.

Show us what you made
A third of every programme comes from the open call. Posters, books, identities, type — send up to ten images by the fifteenth of March.
Before you ask
Can I get a refund?
Passes are refundable until the first of May. After that you can hand yours to a friend — write to us with their name and we will change the badge.
Is the venue accessible?
Yes. The warehouse is on one level with step-free entrances, accessible toilets on both sides and quiet rooms upstairs, reached by a lift.
Do I need to book workshops?
Yes, each one takes twelve people. Festival and patron passes include two bookings; anyone else can add one for €25.
Where should I stay?
We keep a short list of guesthouses within a walk of the river, with a festival rate until the end of April. Ask and we will send it.
Can I volunteer?
We need forty volunteers every year. Four shifts earn you a festival pass, lunch every day and a very good T-shirt.
Are children welcome?
Under-twelves come free with an adult, and Saturday morning has a poster workshop just for them.
